Khajjiar Lake is located in the picturesque hill station of Khajjiar, in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, India. Elevated at a height of around 1,920 meters above sea level between the memorizing hill station Dalhousie town and Chamba town. The lake is situated in an extensive lush green landscape, with charming evergreen cedar trees enclosing it from all sides. 

The Khajjiar Lake got its name from the famous regional God Khajji Nag. Khajjiar Lake has been gradually drying up over the years and is now almost on the edge of disappearing.

Khajjiar Lake is famous for being a floating island, amidst a lush green grass growing on the lake’s surface, a beautiful sight and a tranquil place to relish your vacation. Several backpackers trek to this lake to experience thrilling sports and this place is a paradise for photography lovers, it is even a famous film shooting spot.

You can try adventurous activities like Paragliding, horseback riding, and zorbing and other plenty of recreational activities worth trying. If you aren't an adventurous or sports buff, you can just lie back on the grass and cherish the spectacular views of Mount Kailash.

HOW TO REACH KHAJJIAR LAKE:

Since Khajjiar Lake is located in Chamba, you can reach here from nearby major cities such as Shimla, Kangra or Kullu where domestic flights from Delhi are available. 

Many trains and rail routes connect this place to various regions in India.

Khajjiar town is well connected by roadways via Air and Railways.

BEST TIME TO VISIT KHAJJIAR LAKE:

The best time to visit Khajjiar Lake is any time from April to mid-November. The Khajjiar Lake remains frozen during the winter month of December.
