Manimahesh lake is found in Chamba, it lies at an altitude of 4800 meters above sea level. Minjar fair held in the month of August is popular in Chamba and is a famous pilgrim spot because of the presence of numerous temples and places of worship.

The Mythological Association of Manimahesh Lake is that it is considered that Lord Shiva, one of the three Gods in Hindu Trinity recognised as Lord Brahma the Creator god in Hinduism, Lord Vishnu the Preserver god in Hinduism and Lord Shiva the destroyer stays at Manimahesh Kailash.

Every year Manimahesh Yatra is carried out near Manimahesh Lake in which people from all over the country gather to celebrate the festival. Festival at Manimahesh is held shortly after Krishna Janmashthami, in which Hindus rejoice the birth anniversary of their beloved Lord Krishna, a legendary hero who killed Demon Kansha, as mentioned in the epic Mahabharata.

The best time to visit Manimahesh lake is any time from April to mid-November. The Manimahesh Lake remains frozen during the rest of the year.
