3. Rameshwaram, Tamilnadu: The small temple town of Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu is the south edge of the Char Dham yatra.  This site is a small island isolated from the mainland by the Pamban Channel. According to Hindu mythology, this is the location from where Lord Rama constructed a bridge with his Vanar sena to Srilanka to go rescue his wife Sita from Ravana. To expiate the sin of killing Ravana “a Brahmin”, Rama and Sita built a Shiv lingam to be worshipped here.

4. Dwarka, Gujarat: The western edge of the Char Dham yatra is located in Dwarka, Gujarat. It is positioned at the western tip of the Kathiawar peninsula and is one of the seven most holy shrines in the country. Dwarka, the kingdom of Lord Krishna, is believed to have been the first capital city of Gujarat. The Dwarkadhish Temple, situated in heart of the city, was built 2500 years back in honor of Lord Krishna. It was demolished and then rebuilt in the 16^th century.
