While Dalhousie itself is a lovely resort, the surroundings offer even more. Accordingly, after breakfast, the group sets out to Khajjiar. Khajjiar is an enchanting place, surrounded by green forests and mountain slopes, about 24 km away and the plateau has a lovely lake, perfect for a picnic. It resembles Switzerland and is called a mini-Switzerland in the tourist industry. The place is also home to an ancient temple, the Khajjiar Nag temple where one can find wooden idols of the Pandav Brothers. We then move on to Chamba on the banks of the Ravi River, another picturesque resort. Chamba also has historic significance and was once a princely state known for its architecture. From Chamba, we return to Dalhousie for the night.

Set out after breakfast for the five-hour drive to McLeodganj, about 124 km away across winding passes. We stop at Dharamshala, home to Tibetan refugees and a repository of traditional Tibetan culture and arts. It is also known for Tibetan herbal cures. After a brief tour we go on to McLeodganj, another quaint hill resort and you check into your hotel room. Set out for a brief walking tour of the small hamlet.
